The MetaBikes MetaPhysic RS is designed mainly for one thing- speed! And it certainly delivers! In the MetaPhysic, MetaBikes have designed a light stiff bike that climbs exceptionally well, while delivering the comfort and aerodynamics of a recumbent.
Beyond performance, MetaBikes have engineered the MetaPhysic for versatility and practicality as well. It can be used with dual 26, and 700c wheels. For people who will be doing more riding in stop-and-go traffic, the MetaPhysic can even be set up with a 20 wheel in front and a 26 on the back, lowering the bottom bracket (i.e. pedals) significantly, thus making it easier to get a foot up and down at stops (this requires brake adaptors, and a fork with 0 to 15mm rake, for correct steering geometry and good handling).
The 2010 MetaBikes models take this versatility further. They are now equipped with disc brake mounts, and have been re-designed to work with off-the-shelf fenders and racks. To get some idea of the potential range of configurations, see here.
The MetaPhysic uses standard road bike components. At the moment, Ergo Cycle is only offering the MetaPhysic RS as a frame kit.
